Stephen Ministry

A Resource in Times of Need

Stephen Ministry equips laypeople to provide one-on-one Christian care to people in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties. It is a confidential ministry. The identity of those receiving care and everything they discuss with a Stephen Minister remain private.

A Stephen Minister is a congregation member who has trained to walk alongside someone who is hurting. Our Stephen Ministers have undergone fifty hours of training to listen, care, pray, support, and encourage in Christ-centered ways, trusting God, the ultimate healer. A Stephen Minister meets regularly with a care receiver for as long as there’s a need. Times of struggle might include loss of a loved one, hospitalization, divorce or separation, loneliness or discouragement, spiritual crisis, unemployment, illness, and other life challenges.

Immanuel’s Stephen Leaders oversee the current Stephen Ministers. Contact a Stephen Leader about receiving care or undertaking training to become a Stephen Minister:
