Biographical Sketch
George Garrison was born in 1961, in Jefferson City, Missouri. He grew up as the youngest of six children in the quaint town of Rolla, Missouri. George always enjoyed sports as a child, especially basketball which he played on the starting teams in both high school and college.
George attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL, and graduated with a Biblical Studies Major. He later attended seminary at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. After graduation, he moved to Miami, Florida to accept a call as an Assistant Minister at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church. George was ordained in the South Florida Presbytery in the Spring of 1992. While at Old Cutler, he met and then married Susan on January 2, 1993. After 7 years of ministry at Old Cutler, God confirmed in both of their hearts, the call to become church planters.
The Garrisons then moved to Naperville, IL in 1998 to serve at Naperville Presbyterian Church. Later, they moved to Palatine, IL to begin the work of launching Hope Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights, IL. They both most enjoyed the opportunity for evangelism that beginning a church plant from scratch provides. Watching more than 40 people commit their lives to serving Christ was very exciting.
Several years after the church plant was established the families of Hope mergied with Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Roselle, Illinois, where George served as an Assistant Pastor. George is looking forward to joining the great staff at Immanuel and supporting the congregation as they grow and mature in Christ. George enjoys teaching God's Word and is encouraged to see God working in and through the people at Immanuel. George and Susan are blessed with two wonderful children, Christy and Stephen. They are all looking forward to getting to know the Immanuel congregation better.
